fuel pressure?
primary fuel pump pressure from '88 volvo 240
the primary [in tank] pump is capable of producing 2-4 psi more is ok [there is a kit for high altitudes that uses a higher pressure pump] [modifications for this are easy]
tested at the inlet to the main fuel pump. generally speaking as long as a good volume is produced the primary pump is considerd ok.
the system pressures listed by other answerer[binx] are correct noting that a good main pump will stall out at approx 75 psi[clamping the return hose momentaraly]
one last hint on prepumps sometimes the pump is fine but if the car seems to run out of gas at approx 1/4 tank the rubber hose that connects the pump to the sending unit's tubing may have split.. good luck

Fuel Pressure Test
What is normal fuel pressure in a ford 2.9L 1987 Bronco II?
I have a 1987 Bronco II with a 2.9L. It idles rough, revs up and down. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and it still does it. I have a pressure gage and I am getting about 31psi off the fuel rail when running. Anyone know what the fuel pressure is supposed to be off the fuel rail while running?
Pressure should be 38 to 42 with key on engine off.
5 to 10 psi drop when running
